Football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson earned 11 different trips to the Pro Bowl based on his hard-hitting exploits at defensive back. When it came to game-saving tackles or breaking up a "Hail Mary" heave downfield, Woodson was the guy you wanted covering the intended target. His career totals of 1,163 tackles and 71 interceptions speak volumes. By virtue of his many trips to Hawaii's Aloha Stadium, Woodson also picked up a few gifted items from fellow Pro Bowlers.
This lot features linebacker Derrick Brooks' signed, inscribed and game-worn NFC jersey and pants from the 1998 Pro Bowl, attire that Brooks personally gave Woodson following the AFC's 29-24 victory on February 1. The Wilson nylon mesh white jersey includes proper tagging on the left front tail along with a size "46" strip tag. The front of the jersey features Brooks' number "55" in blue tackle twill outlined in black and white as well as the official NFL embroidered shield on the as well as the official "NFL PRO BOWL HAWAII 1998" embroidered patch on the left shoulder. Brooks' number "55" appears in like fashion on both sleeves as well as the reverse of the jersey. The left sleeve sports the official "NFC" embroidered patch, while the right sleeve is adorned with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers patch, Brooks' team. His last name ("BROOKS") appears in blue letters applied to a white nameplate sewn directly onto the back of the jersey. Brooks has signed the first "5" on the back of the jersey and added his uniform number and "NFC 98" in black marker; he added "Game Worn" to the second five on the same side.
The accompanying nylon/spandex white pants with blue trim include Brooks' number "55" in black marker on the inside front waistband. The size 34 pants include the proper Wilson tagging and washing instructions on the inside rear waistband. The official "NFC" embroidered patch appears on either pant leg and the official "NFL" logo shield is sewn onto the left front side. Both the jersey and pants show light to moderate game wear with minor fraying.
