Now retired, Jamal Williams was a 6-foot-3, 350-pound nose/defensive tackle who spent 13 seasons in the NFL trenches including twelve with the San Diego Chargers (1998 to 2009). He tallied a total of 271 tackles, 86 assists and 13 sacks during his lengthy career. This lot features his game-worn San Diego Chargers home jersey from his 1998 rookie season in which he appeared in nine games and made the only interception of his career, which he ran back for a 14-yard touchdown.

The navy mesh Pro Line Starter jersey includes all the proper tags on the left front tail including a pair of flag tags reading “56” and “L” to indicate the size. A nearby, separate sewn on cloth tag reads “97” in black chain-stitching that indicates that the jersey was a carry-over from the previous season, something that commonly occurred in that era. The No. 76 jersey shows heavy wear with several team repairs evident throughout the shoulder area where the jersey was stitched from rips sustained during game action. His heat-pressed number “76” appears in white outlined in yellow on the front, back and on both sleeves. The NFL shield is sewn into the bottom of the V-neck collar and a silver embroidered Starter patch is also sewn onto both sleeves. His Navy blue nameplate – “J. WILLIAMS” in white heat-pressed letters – is sewn on across the back of the shoulders.

The consignor is one of the most passionate San Diego Chargers collectors around and attests to this gamer being given from Williams to a Chargers equipment staff member.
