Junior Seau was inducted into the National Football Hall of Fame in 2015 after his untimely death in 2012. This lot features Seau’s 1/20/2008 AFC Championship game ball that was presented to him after the game. The New England Patriots beat Seau’s old team, the San Diego Chargers, 21 to 12. Junior Seau made a key defensive play in the third quarter when he burst through the line and stopped Michael Turner and third-and-1 inside the 10-yard line, forcing another Chargers field goal. The Wilson official NFL game ball is in MINT condition and has been painted in white on one panel with the score highlighted and both team logos present. Inscription reads “Gameball Presented to Junior Seau - Patriots 21 / Chargers 12 - AFC Championship - Gillette Stadium January 20, 2008”. This item was formerly displayed at Seau’s restaurant in San Diego from where it was sourced by our consignor.
