The late Junior Seau was the fist-pumping, enthusiastic linebacker who led the San Diego Chargers defense for 13 seasons. a 12-time Pro Bowler, Seau led the Bolts to their only Super Bowl appearance following the 1994 season. He was elected posthumously to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015. One of those 12 Pro Bowls to which Seau was elected by his peers took place at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii on February 7, 1999, when the AFC squad handed the NFL team a 23-10 defeat.
This lot offers Seau's 1999 NFL Pro Bowl AFC game-worn jersey. The red, size 52 Wilson jersey shows
ample game wear and includes Seau's trademark uniform number "55" in white tackle twill outlined in black and red. His number also appears in similar fashion on either sleeve as well as on the back of the jersey where the numerals stretch 11.5" tall. On the front left of the jersey is the "PRO BOWL HAWAII 1999 20 YEARS OF ALOHA" commemorative patch. The left sleeve boasts the "AFC" patch as well as a smaller Wilson logo patch, while the right
sleeve is sporting an embroidered Chargers patch along with another, smaller Wilson logo patch. The back of the jersey has a special red nameplate sewn right into the jersey with "SEAU" in large white heat-pressed letters. The bottom of the jersey was cut off, presumably by Seau, since that's
how he liked to wear his jersey. The back of the jersey has some adhesive substance worked into it from when it was previously framed and proudly
displayed at Seau's Restaurant in San Diego.
