In 1978, the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team finished the regular-season with a 6-1 Big 8 Conference record (good for second place behind the 6-1 Oklahoma Sooners (11-1 overall). Overall the Cornhuskers, coached by Tom Osbourne, finished with a 9-3 record that included a heart-breaking, 31-24 loss to rival Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day 1979. In the final AP rankings for the season, Nebraska finished as the No. 8 team in the country.  This lot features a beautiful 1979 "Orange Bowl Classic" Nebraska player ring. Consisting of gorgeous 10 karat gold, the size 7 ring has "Orange Bowl Classic" noted in raised relief around a center orange stone, with "NEBRASKA 1979" on one side shank and a quarterback standing atop the Orange Bowl trophy with the Miami Orange Bowl venue in the background on the other shank. "10K" is engraved on the interior band. The ring exhibits moderate wear. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
