Journeyman linebacker Garland Boyette played in the NFL for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1962–63 and in the AFL for the Houston Oilers from 1966–72. He also played in the Canadian Football League for the Montreal Alouettes from 1964 to 1965 and in 1974 he played for the Houston Texans of the WFL. Midway through the 1974 season the Texans moved to Shreveport and became the Steamers. Boyette finished his career with the Shreveport Steamer of the WFL in 1975. This lot offers a large collection of 1966-74 Garland Boyette Houston Oilers (AFL) and Texans (NFL) Game/Practice used items. Items include a signed and inscribed 1974 WFL Houston Texans personal playbook in black sharpie with “Garland Boyette #52 - My Playbook 1974 - WFL Houston Texans” by Garland. Playbook has over 185 pages and is in original 3 ring binder in NM condition. Also (3) pairs of game/practice used black vintage Riddell football cleats in overall EX-EX-MT condition, a complete practice outfit from the Houston Oilers (includes one tee shirt, one pair of trunks, one cap) all cotton and in NM condition, a blue cotton XXL vintage Bonner “All Pro” football jacket and a framed (15.5”X15.5”) vintage wood display of a Houston Oilers Riddell football helmet that has been cut in half.
