Both the New York Football Giants and Chicago Bears had something to prove in 1963. The Giants had made the Championship four out of the past five years but each time met defeat. This time New York was facing the Chicago Bears who were making their first Championship Game appearance since the Giants beat them in 1956. Thus, on December 29, 1963, both clubs were looking for validation. Played in 10 degree weather at Wrigley Field, the Giants took an early lead when Y.A. Tittle connected with Frank Gifford for a TD. Chicago evened it up before the Giants scored a field goal to take a 10-7 lead going into the third quarter. Then, the Bears made a drive and scored another TD making it 14-10. Chicago then played brilliant defense to hold off New York and take the Championship.
These two tickets, one a field seat and the other an east stand seat, date from that historic Championship Game. Each ticket has been encapsulated by PSA, the East stand ticket is graded a VG 3 and the field seat is a GOOD 2. Early Championship ticket stubs are quite scarce, and the surviving examples from the 1963 are hard to come by: According to PSA the Pop is 16 with only 7 graded. The other 9 are just Authentic. PSA 3 is highest grade (5 total) on registry with nothing rated higher.
