Garland Boyette was a professional linebacker in the NFL for both the St. Louis Cardinals (1962-63) and the Houston Oilers (1966-72). He was a two-time AFL All-Star selection in 1968 and ’69 just prior to the AFL-NFL merger. This lot includes a pair of Boyette’s 1962 and ’63 game-worn jerseys (home and road) while he was making tackles for the Cardinals. The first dureen style, V-neck three-quarter-sleeve jersey is Boyette’s home white with red tackle twill numbers (“50”) appearing on the front, back and on both sleeves. The proper Rawlings (size 50) manufacturer’s tag appears on the inside left rear tail where it is positioned next to a washing instructions tag. The jersey shows ample game use with multiple stains showing as well as puckering and fraying of the numbers. The second dureen style, V-neck three-quarter-sleeve jersey is Boyette’s road red with white tackle twill numbers (“50”) appearing on the front, back and on both sleeves. The proper Wilson manufacturer’s tag appears on the left front tail where it is positioned next to a [size] “48” strip tag. The road version jersey shows ample game use with team repairs evident as well as noticeable puckering and fraying of the jersey numbers.
