Football Hall of Famer Alex Wojciechowicz started his incredible career playing at Fordham University in 1937 and was one of the famous “Seven Blocks of Granite” for the squad. Alex played alongside Vince Lombardi during this time period and went on to play for the Detroit Lions from 1938 to 1946, ultimately earning a spot in Canton, OH. Alex won two NFL titles in 1948 and 1949. Offered here is a rare Detroit Lions professional model helmet worn by Wojciechowicz during the early 1940’s. The Rawlings leather helmet features a silver painted shell, thick leather padding lining the interior and an eight-point crown suspension on which “Rawlings” size “7-1/8”is stamped. The helmet does exhibit heavy signs of wear and game use with its original chin strap still intact. Overall the helmet is in great condition and is still structurally solid throughout. A truly scarce addition to any vintage football collection.

According to Huggins & Scott, the helmet was purchased in 2005 but buyer has since passed and the letter of provenance certifying its use by "Wojie" could not be located.
