"Broadway Joe" guaranteed a Super Bowl III victory for a three-touchdown underdog New York Jets team -- and then delivered. He was a charismatic presence who became a larger-than-life figure. At 21, he was a star. At 25, he was a legend. His road roommate said it was like traveling with a Beatle. Namath's enduring popularity is evidenced by the fact that his rookie card has long been considered one of the most important post-war football cards ever issued. This superb example here received PSA’s Near Mint 7 grade, though we were surprised it did not receive a higher mark when we submitted it only recently. An extremely sharp card with brilliant color, and clean spotless surfaces. Perhaps only a slight tilt to the front image is the reason PSA withheld the addition half to full point we thought it might receive.
