Blanda’s 116 points led all NFL kickers in 1967, and twice his foot meant the difference between victory and defeat for the Oakland Raiders. As a nod to his spectacular season, Blanda was named to the AFL’s 1967 All-Star Team, and these two pieces document that career-defining honor. The Sporting News All-Star Team laminated wood plaque measures 11 1/4” x 13” x 1” and holds the signature of C.C. Johnson Spink, publisher of the paper. The official AFL All-Star Team certificate has Blanda’s name and team with his position of placekicker. The 8” x 10” parchment has been signed by former AFL president Milt Woodward in blue felt tip pen. The parchment is un-mounted and shows some edge toning and wrinkling due to age. The wear actually adds a bit of character to the parchment and enhances its display quality. Two great pieces acknowledging Blanda’s value to the league, despite his “advanced” age of 40!
LOA from the Blanda family.
