On December 10, 1967 George Blanda’s four field goals lifted Oakland past the Houston Oilers (his former team) for a 19-7 win. For his perfect kicks Blanda was named Raiders Player of the Week. In recognition of the honor, the team presented him with this 8” x 12” wooden plaque. A metal panel on the front carries the Raiders logo and is engraved with “PRESENTED TO GEORGE BLANDA HOUSTON TEXAS, DECEMBER 10, 1967 FOR OUTSTANDING FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK”. The back of the award has the hand written message “FROM ONE OF YOUR OLD KENTUCKY FRIEND(S) CHARLEY”. The painted wood base shows some chipping and edge wear from storage and age.
LOA from the Blanda Family.
