During the course of his prolific head coaching career with the Green Bay Packers, the late Vince Lombardi had plenty of disciples not to mention countless fans across the country. From 1959 to 1967, he mentored the packers into perennial contenders and compiled an overall record of 98-30-4 and three straight titles from 1965 to '67. Green Bay, in fact, never suffered a losing season under the Hall of Fame coach.

This lot features an unusual piece of sports memorabilia in that it originated from the President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, who sent a congratulatory Western Union telegram to Coach Lombardi in December of 1961 following yet another exciting Packers' win. The type-written telegram, which measures 8" wide by 5.5" high, is addressed to "= VINCE LOMBARDI = GREENBAY WIS =." The message reads: "CONGRATULATIONS ON A GREAT GAME TODAY. IT WAS A FINE VICTORY FOR A GREAT COACH, A GREAT TEAM, AND A GREAT TOWN. BEST REGARDS = PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY."

Comes directly from the Lombardi family with a letter signed by his son, Vince Lombardi Jr.
