Just a year removed from his league MVP selection in 2001, Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Allen Iverson was back at it again the
following season. In fact, he posted career highs during the 2001-02 campaign by averaging a league-leading 31.4 points per game to go along with 43.7 minutes of playing time per contest. An 11-time NBA All-Star and four-time scoring champion, he was one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history in spite of his small stature, listed at 6 feet and 180 pounds. His regular-season career scoring average of 26.7 points per game ranks sixth all time, and his playoff career scoring average of 29.7 points per game is second only to the great Michael Jordan.
This lot features Iverson’s Philadelphia 76ers game-worn road jersey from that remarkable individual season. The size 44 nylon jersey boasts all proper identifiers on the lower front tail including Reebok manufacturer’s tagging which includes adjacent flag tags reading “44”
“2001-2002” and “+2 LENGTH.” The front of the jersey reads “SIXERS” in white tackle twill outlined in blue and red with a specially embroidered basketball zooming across the chest. Iverson’s number “3” is also sewn on the center front right in white tackle twill outlined in red, while his name and number are sewn in the same color pattern on the back of the jersey. Around the collar only is a red/black/gold/black/red striping pattern and the NBA logo patch is embroidered on the upper left chest. On the upper right chest is a 9/11 embroidered memorial ribbon with a USA flag. The jersey shows moderate game use. LOA from Dave Miedema.
