During the 1982-83 NBA season, 6' 5" point guard Michael Ray Richardson split time between playing 33 games for the Golden State Warriors before moving on to the the New Jersey Nets, where he started in 26 games and averaged 12.7 points, six assist and 4.8 boards per outing. This lot features Richardson's game-worn New Jersey Nets home uniform from that season.

The size 42 Rawlings white mesh jersey reads "Nets" across the front in blue tackle twill outlined in red. Directly below that is Richardson's uniform number "20" in similar tackle twill fashion. Puckering and fraying of the numbers and letters is most evident. Proper manufacturer's tagging appears on the lower front tail with an adjacent "2 INCH EXTRA LENGTH" strip as well as a separate red chain-stitched tag reading "82" to indicate the season. The sleeves and collar are all trimmed in elastic blue and red. Arching across the back of the jersey is "RICHARDSON" in red tackle twill sewn directly onto the garment with his uniform number "20" repeating in blue tackle twill numerals outlined on red. Puckering and fraying is again evident.
The accompanying white mesh Rawlings shorts [size 34], which reflect plenty of wear, include proper tagging on the inside rear waistband including a separate red tag chain-stitched in white that reads "82" to indicate the season. Elastic blue and red trim the waist and bottom of the shorts and the original draw string appears intact. Lastly, "NJ" appears on either side of the shorts in blue tackle twill outlined in red. No doubt through multiple washings, the uniform has faded toward a light blue hue quite a bit. (See Getty 51752287 for style-match.)
