In 1975–76, playing at their new arena (Denver Auditorium), the Denver Nuggets, coached by Larry Brown, edged the reigning champion Kentucky Colonels four games to three to make the 1976 ABA finals for the first time. Eventually, they lost to the New York Nets and Julius Erving. This lot features an official ABA basketball believed to have been used in a game and signed by 18 members (15 identified) of the Denver Nuggets primarily from the 1975-76 squad.
The list includes David Thompson, Dan Issel, Chuck Williams, Julian Hammond, Fatty Taylor, Claude Terry, Marv Roberts, Marvin Webster, Jimmy Foster, Lloyd Williams (trainer), Monte Towe, Carl Scheer, (President/GM), Byron Beck, Steve Wilson and Kim Hughes. Signatures come in uniform black vintage sharpie and are a 7-8/10 for strength and eye appeal. The colorful and ever-popular ABA ball certainly has the appearance of being game-used with signs of wear and aging, but the bladder is still intact and it takes in air perfectly. Also, the year "1975" has been notated adding further confirmation to its origin and attributed game use.
