Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird was the definition of hustle and consistency throughout his 13-year career in Beantown. Few played harder than “Larry Legend” who often wound up sprawled out on the hardwood floor hustling to retrieve loose balls during the course of many games. A member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Bird is arguably the greatest small forward in NBA history. Featured here is Bird's Boston Celtics game-worn home jersey from the 1987-88 season, one in which he averaged a career-best 29.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists while shooting his way into the 50-40-90 club for an unprecedented second straight season. The Celtics posted a 57-25 record to win the Atlantic Division, but fell to the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The well-worn white knit jersey (size 44) is properly tagged on the left front tail by MacGregor Sand-Knit with the "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Boston Celtics" label and an additional “87” strip tag. The all-original letters (“CELTICS” and “BIRD”) and numbers of the No. 33 jersey are stitched in green tackle twill. The NBA logo patch is sewn above the left chest. The shirt shows outstanding wear with evident stretching and some spot staining from sweat or possibly blood (most significant on the lower front). Truly a significant Bird gamer, fresh to the market with superb provenance from the family of his longtime agent, Bob Woolf.

Letter from MEARS with a nearly perfect A9 grade. One point deducted for the [blood] splatter. Includes LOA from the Woolf family.
