Lynn St. John, a.k.a. “The Saint,” was considered a legend in Ohio sports circles and served as Ohio State University’s second ever athletic director for 33 years. A football, basketball and baseball coach, St. John also served on the NCAA Rules Committee with none other than basketball inventor James Naismith.
Offered here is one of the toughest to find of all basketball Hall of Fame signatures: a document that St. John signed that represents the original agreement between the University of Chicago and Ohio State (dated July 18, 1935) to play multiple football games in the mid-to-late 1930’s. St. John signed the single page contract, which measures 8.5” wide by 11” high, in 9/10 black fountain pen and it still exhibits in near perfect condition. Anyone looking to complete his/her Basketball Hall of Fame signature collection will be looking for this one.
