From the personal collection of Christian Laettner comes his 1992 NBA Draft Night jersey. The Duke basketball legend and famed 1992 Olympic USA "Dream Team" member was selected #3 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves and spent five seasons in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The 6' 11" power forward/center averaged a career-high 18.2 points to go along with 8.7 rebounds per game in '92-93 to earn All Rookie First Team honors. On June 24, 1992, when then-Commissioner David Stern announced the third pick of the draft from New, Laettner was actually in La Jolla, CA, with the Dream Team as they were practicing in preparation of the '92 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. He can be seen raising this very jersey during the TNT coverage as they filmed his reaction some 1,000 miles south (see 9:30 mark of video at end).
The white mesh jersey has "WOLVES" on the front, with his No. "32" front and back, all coming blue tackle twill outlined in white and green. "LAETTNER" appears on the back in blue tackle twill. The neck and armpits have blue, green and white elastic trim. On the front left tail is Champion size 46 manufacturer's tagging with washing instructions. Adjacent is a "YEAR 1991" and "BODY LENGTH +3" label. (Jersey was a holdover from the previous season.) Inside the left inseam is the 100% Nylon materials tag. Laettner has autographed the left chest area with "32" and inscribed the right chest "My 1992 Draft Night Jersey" in 9-10/10 black marker.
According to Laettner, the discoloration on the shoulder stems from how the jersey was framed in Laettner's home; it's not from game use. Laettner played 13 NBA seasons with six teams and finished with career averages of 12.8 points and 6.7 rebounds. One-of-a-kind piece from a perennial basketball superstar best known for his clutch performances in college.
