If any one athlete could be proclaimed “Best in the World” in 1992, Christian Laettner was the one. Sponsored by the Eastman Kodak Co. since 1975, the Eastman Award is given each year to the best male college basketball player. This impressive award features a clear crystal globe held by a life-size hand set upon a 10 1/2” x 10 1/2” x 4” black acrylic light box. The top of the box illuminates the crystal trophy making this a quite striking award. The light box has an engraved plaque with “1993 EASTMAN AWARD CHRISTIAN LAETTNER DUKE UNIVERSITY BEST IN THE WORLD”. Laettner has signed the light box in silver pen adding his number “32” and “Duke”. The light box shows some light edge wear and the crystal globe has a few minor abrasions from storage.
