This tall, striking trophy was presented to Christian Laettner by New York publisher Street & Smith in accordance with the Downtown Athletic Club ("Home of the Heisman"). No date is indicated but it is believed to be awarded for Laettner's monumental 1991 or '92 seasons, both of which ended with Duke as National Champions. Large silver-plaque reads: "STREET & SMITH'S EXEMPLARY PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD IS PRESENTED TO CHRISTIAN LAETTNER DUKE UNIVERSITY PRESENTED BY DOWNTOWN ATHLETIC CLUB 'HOME OF THE HEISMAN' " Weighs 15.5 lbs. and stands 41" tall with a 12" by 12" flat wooden base and two layered wooden platform sections measuring 10 x 10 x 6 and 8 x 8 x 4. Lovely silver-colored metallic (Peuter or alloy mixture) basketball figure in classic hook shot motion sits on top of an ornate silver-colored piece resembling a candle holder.
