Christian Laettner became a regular starter for Duke as a sophomore and really made a name for himself in the 1990 NCAA Tournament. The 6' 11" center's innate feel for the game and ability to step up under pressure were on full display in the East Regional Final against UCONN when he sank the game-winning shot at the buzzer to send the Blue Devils to the Final Four. It was "The Shot" before "The Shot" against Kentucky two years later. Laettner averaged 16.3 points and 9.6 rebounds as a sophomore. Duke eventually fell to UNLV in the National Championship, but the smell of victory lay just around the corner for Laettner, Bobby Hurley, Coach K and company.

This is the ring presented to one of college basketball’s greatest players for his monumental efforts in the 1990 NCAA Tournament. The face has a black stone in its center with “NCAA” in silver, ringed with “FINAL FOUR 1990” in raised letters. The left shank has the Duke University logo and the right has a ribbon with “LAETTNER” above a ball and basket motif. “JOSTEN’S LTM” is engraved on the inside of the band. The ring shows very light wear and is housed in its original wooden display box featuring the NCAA medallion on its lid. LOA from Laettner.
