Floyd Mayweather Jr. retired after defeating Andre Berto in September 2015, ending his nearly 20-year career with a 49-0 record, matching Rocky Marciano's all-time record. One of the world's highest-paid athletes of his generation, “Money Mayweather” has made a compelling case for his own self-proclaimed title as the greatest pond-for-pound boxer of all-time.
The offered pair of 8-ounce Cleto Reyes boxing gloves was given directly to our consignor by Floyd himself. Our consignor enjoyed both a professional and personal relationship with the flamboyant boxer between 2006 and 2009. It was during that period that these gloves were gifted by Floyd along with the boxing shoes and wraps also featured in this auction (lots 550 & 553). All of these items were stated as being fight worn at the time they were presented. The red gloves show light to moderate usage wear with white trainer’s tape intact at each wrist. Mayweather wore a similar looking pair of red Cleto Reyes gloves with the same "Hecho en Mexico" stamp on the outside for his first Jose Luis Castillo fight
in 2002. Each glove has been signed by Mayweather in nearly perfect 9-10/10 black Sharpie.

Provenance: This lot originates from a gentleman who has enjoyed a long and successful career in Hollywood as an agent for many well-known athletes and entertainers. His professional and personal network enabled him to amass a significant collection of memorabilia, nearly all of which was given to him directly from the athletes and entertainers themselves. All of these items are being introduced to the marketplace here for the first time. While our consignor remains anonymous, SCP Auctions will issue an LOA for each game used item attesting to its player-direct provenance.
