When discussion turns to basketball and the Los Angeles Lakers, one primary figure who is usually talked about is Magic Johnson. The 1980 NBA Rookie of the Year who led the "Show Time" Lakers to five NBA titles in the 1980's remains one of the most beloved players to have ever donned the purple and gold. The 12-time NBA All-Star selection and two-time NBA All-Star Game MVP (1990 and '92) reset the Lakers back on the road to greatness with his eye-opening arrival from Michigan State and never looked back.

This lot features a large used purple equipment bag that Johnson had in his arsenal during his playing days in L.A. Made of nylon with a satin-sheen outer coat, the bag is sporting Johnson's trademark uniform number "32" in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the outside. It's original drawstring ring remains intact. A unique piece of sports memorabilia from one of the finest showmen the hard court has ever seen.

Provenance: This lot originates from a gentleman who has enjoyed a long and successful career in Hollywood as an agent for many well-known athletes and entertainers. His professional and personal network enabled him to amass a significant collection of memorabilia, nearly all of which was given to him directly from the athletes and entertainers themselves. All of these items are being introduced to the marketplace here for the first time. While our consignor remains anonymous, SCP Auctions will issue an LOA for each game used item attesting to its player-direct provenance.
