When Tony Gwynn retired in 2001, Mr Padre held the record for most batting titles, most consecutive seasons of .300 or better, most seasons leading in hits in NL history, and most 5-hit games in MLB history. Does anyone question why the Baseball Scouts Foundation voted Tony Gwynn the 2008 Player Lifetime Achievement Award? This gorgeous 20” tall award features a golden Art Deco gloved arm reaching sky-high for a ball. Weighting in at 11 lbs., the award’s base has an engraved plaque to Gwynn noting the date “January 19, 2008”. There are a few surface scuffs from age and this imposing award displays wonderfully. An attractive piece that rewards Gwynn’s lifetime contribution to baseball. Includes LOA from Alicia Gwynn.
