Nineteen sixty-three was Jim Bouton’s year. The Yankees pitcher was n his second season with New York and was on his way to winning a career high 21 games when he was selected to the All-Star Game in Cleveland. Bouton was put into the game in the 6th inning and promptly retired Ken Boyer, Dick Groat and J Javier in order. These two bats were issued to Bouton for use at the Mid Summer Classic. The first first is a Hillerich & Bradsby K55 model with “BOUTON” stamped into its barrel along with “1963 ALL STAR GAME” and “CLEVELAND”. It shows good game use and displays ball marks and bat rack paint streaks.
The second bat is from Adirondack and its barrel is stamped with “BOUTON 1963 ALL STARS”. This bat shows light use with some abrasions on its handle and a few ball marks on the back barrel. Both bats have a screw hole on each end which was presumably done for mounting.
LOA from Jim Bouton.
