The 1999 World Series featured a match between the defending champions New York Yankees of the American League against the Atlanta Braves of the National League. This was a rematch of the 1996 World Series where the Yankees defeated the Braves. The Yankees swept the 1999 Series in four games for their second consecutive title, third in four years, and 25th overall. Game 3 was highly competitive. The score remained knotted until the bottom of the tenth when Chad Curtis blasted a walk-off home run—his second home run of the game—off Mike Remlinger, giving the Yankees a commanding 3–0 lead in the Series.
