New York Yankees pitcher Ralph Terry was a 6’ 3” right-hander who compiled an overall record of 107-99 while throwing fastballs for four different teams over a 12-year span. His best seasons came while wearing pinstripes in New York where he recorded three consecutive seasons of impressive W’s: 16-3 in 1961, 23-12 in 1962, and 17-15 in 1963. This lot features Terry’s game-worn New York Yankees road pants from the 1960 and ‘61 seasons.

The well-worn gray flannel pants exhibit outstanding wear with built-in dirt stains, obvious fraying throughout and one very noticeable team repair showing on the back of the right leg. Proper manufacturer’s tagging exists on the inside front right waistband area with the “Wilson” sports equipment tag (size 34) adjacent to a washing instructions tag. Immediately below those tags is a separate, sewn-on cloth identifier with red chain-stitching that reads “Terry ‘60” that shows he was the owner of those pants for that particular season. Also, in black marker is written “61” (season) and “23” (his uniform number) that indicates Terry also wore this pair of pants the following season. In a move familiar to that era, several other player numbers are written in black marker on the inside left waistband area that indicates these pants were recycled for other New York players including numbers “16” and “48.” All three original fly buttons as well as the pair of back-pocket buttons appear intact.
