October 8, 1956 was the date when World Series history was made. The two pivotal players involved were New York Yankees teammates Don Larsen and Yogi Berra. It was Game 5 of the ’56 World Series and the Yankees were hosting the Brooklyn Dodgers at Yankee Stadium. The game ended 2-0 in favor of the host team, but the box score reflected something magical: a perfect game! No hits, no runs, no walks and no hits batsmen for the Dodgers. 27 up and 27 down. Larsen struck out seven Dodgers that day and threw a perfect game with Berra catching behind the plate, the first and only perfect game ever pitched in World Series history! This lot includes an official American League (Budig) baseball signed by both players in blue ink, with Berra across the sweet spot. Below his autograph, Larsen has added the following inscription in beautiful penmanship: "Yogi caught my 1956 World Series Perfect game vs. Brooklyn Dodgers. Monday October 8, 1956, 1:05PM." Signatures rate 9/10.
