Perhaps no dual-signed baseball is more coveted than a Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig ball. Those two giants are forever intertwined as the game’s greatest 1-2 home run punch. Teammates for a decade, the two have over 1200 home runs between them, and one would be hard pressed to find another pair of ballplayers who could match the awesome power of Ruth and Gehrig. This Reach Official American League baseball dates from the 1928 season in which Ruth hit .323 with 54 home runs and Lou hit .374 with 27 home runs as the Yankees rolled to their second consecutive World Championship. Ruth has signed the sweet spot and Lou dutifully takes his place on the panel directly below. This ideal placement showcases both signatures at the same time, making this Ruth-Gehrig ball a very desirable display piece. Both signatures are in black fountain pen and are bold and strong. Ruth is a solid 8/10 while the Iron Horse rates around 6-7 in our book. The ball exhibits some scuff marks and shows nice warm toning from age and the signatures have been lightly coated with shellac. About as good a Ruth/Gehrig ball as one could ask for.
