There really isn’t a more definitive single piece of baseball memorabilia than a single-signed Babe Ruth ball. The Babe’s stature as the game’s greatest player, coupled with his beautifully flawless script, combine to make a Ruth single-signed ball the cornerstone of every collection. This Spalding “Babe Ruth Home Run Special” ball has been signed by its namesake in black fountain pen. The signature rates a 5/10 and resides right on the ball’s sweet spot. The “Babe Ruth Home Run Special” balls were a specially endorsed line brought out by Spalding in the late 1920’s and very early 1930’s. This example has the blue and red stitching which makes this ball all the more attractive. The single-signed ball comes with its original box which has Ruth’s approving mug on one panel and a likeness of the contents on the opposite side. The Spalding logo is displayed ant sides and the official seal is partially present. The box shows edge wear with some separation of the seams. The box is creased in several areas, along with overall toning from age. A very desirable Ruth-endorsed and single-signed ball complete with the original box.
