The 1921 World Series pitted the New York Yankees against the New York Giants. It marked the first Fall Classic ever for the Yankees, who were led by Babe Ruth, and the sixth World Series appearance for the seasoned Giants. Ruth, who was coming off arguably his greatest season statistically (.368 batting average, 168 RBI, 204 hits and 177 runs scored), was limited in the final six games of the best-of-nine series after suffering an arm injury in Game 3. But it was in Game 5, in a pinch-hit appearance, where Ruth's star shined again. In the fourth inning, with the score tied 1–1, he shocked everyone by bunting and beating it out. His teammate Bob Meusel then doubled, scoring Ruth all the way from first base for the go-ahead run in what turned out to be a 3-1 Yankees win. This lot features an authentic 1921 World Series Game 5 ticket stub from the Polo Grounds venue at 155th Street and 8th Avenue. The actual seat location was in Section 20, Row C, Seat 8. The price of admission for a Lower Stand Reserved seat was $5.50. The PSA/DNA encapsulated ticket stub is slabbed "Authentic" and remains in remarkable shape.
