Despite pitching alongside two Hall of Famer legends named Don and Sandy in the same starting rotation, Dodgers southpaw Johnny Podres left his own legacy among the Big Blue faithful. The 4-time All-Star was key cog for the Dodgers’ four World Series titles between 1955 and ’65, his memorable shutout performance in Game 7 of the ’55 Fall Classic delivering the franchise its first championship and only one in Brooklyn. This lot includes Podres’ Dodgers road gray jersey from the 1960 season when he went 14-12 with a 3.08 ERA and appeared in both All-Star contests.

The Spalding (size 44) flannel jersey boasts the double blue piping which runs the length of the button path and around the collar and sleeve cuffs. "Los Angeles” in blue and “22" in red are sewn on the front in all-original felt letters and numbers, with his No. "22" repeated on the back in large blue felt.  Proper "Spalding [size] 44" tagging appear at lower left front tail, with "Podres 60" chain-stitched in blue below. Just inside the shirttail at the hem are the washing instructions with a “Set 1 1960” flag tag. The jersey exhibits outstanding evidence of game wear, with a rather large faded area of sweat staining/soiling on the front surrounding the ‘A’ in “Angeles”. Overall, it has been remarkably well-preserved, with no moth damage common in these vintage wool shirts. The aforementioned staining does nothing to take away from its gorgeous aesthetics.
