In 1964 Jackie Robinson appeared at a meeting of the King County Young Republicans in Seattle, Washington. At the time, the baseball hero and civil rights advocate was campaigning for Nelson Rockefeller, then governor of New York and future vice president under Gerald Ford. As a member of the King County Young Republicans our consignor had the great fortune to meet the living legend. As a parting gift, Jackie signed for him this Voit Official Collegiate/Waterproof hard rubber baseball. One of the finest Jackie signatures we’ve seen on a baseball of any type appears on the side panel in beautiful 9/10 dark blue ink with the added inscription "Best Wishes". The ball is super clean and beautifully preserved overall. A traditional white leather ball of similar condition and quality might test the six-figure level.
