Chicago Cubs southpaw Jon Lester is not known for his batting prowess. But he did collect six hits and drive in six runs to help the Cubs advance to the World Series this year, their first visit to the Fall Classic since 1945. The dominating, 6' 4" pitcher turned in a career best 19-5 record this year. This lot features one of Lester's game-used Marucci bone-rubbed black bats. The 34" piece of lumber, hand-crafted for Lester (Model # AR25-LDM Pro Model) shows moderate usage with some contact marks throughout the barrel and a generous amount of Mota stick applied to the handle and mid-section. This particular bat has been photo-matched (Getty 541162130) to a June 18, 2016, game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in which Lester pitched and hit. Nearly nine inches' worth of blue-and-while Lizard Wrap occupies the handle. The knob of the bat is engraved with Lester's uniform number "34" as well as the date of the bat's production: "05/31/16."
