Ramon Oritz was the ace and workhorse of the 2002 World Champion Anaheim Angels pitching staff. The Dominican right-hander started 29 games and led the team with 217.1 innings pitched. He had a team-leading 15 wins (versus 9 losses) and struck out a team-high 162 batters during the regular season. The Angels went on to win the World Series by downing the National League Champion San Francisco Giants in a thrilling seven game series. This lot features Ortiz's game-worn, signed and inscribed Angels road jersey that he donned during his crucial World Series Game 3 victory over the Giants on October 22, 2002 in San Francisco. Spotted an 8-1 lead after four innings, Ortiz pitched five innings and struck out three to earn the win and give the Halos a 2-1 series advantage.

The gray polyester button-down jersey (size 46) reads "ANAHEIM" across the chest in red tackle twill letters outlined in navy blue and white, with Ortiz's uniform number "36" adorning the left breast area in red tackle twill numbers outlined in navy blue. Proper "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag rests on the left front tail, complete with washing instructions, and a pair of flag tags, one reading "46" for the size and the other one completely washed out. The reverse of the jersey includes the official MLB embroidered path at the top followed by "ORTIZ" across the shoulders in red tackle twill outlined in navy blue, and his jersey number "36" in like fashion stretching 7.5" inches tall. Ortiz has signed the back of the jersey across the No. 3 ("Ramon Ortiz #36") and inscribed the No. 6 ("Game Used 2002 World Series") in bold 9/10 silver paint pen. The jersey shows moderate wear with noticeable puckering as well as slight fraying of the numbers and letters. (It can be matched to Getty 563556269, 52009002, and 5167144.) A terrific piece of game-worn baseball memorabilia commemorating the Angel franchise's first and only World Series title, Ortiz's World Series gamer comes directly from his personal collection. His World Series ring is offered in Lot 357.

Includes LOA from Ramon Ortiz. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
