Longtime Chicago White Sox slugger Frank Thomas deservedly earned the nickname "The Big Hurt" during the course of his illustrious Hall of Fame career. He played a total of 19 major league seasons, his first 16 in the Windy City, and crushed 521 tape-measure worthy home runs. This lot features Frank Thomas's 1995 Rawlings professional model number 576B Adirondack "Big Stick" black bat. It measures 34.5 inches long and weighs 32.3 ounces, showing light use in the form of ball marks, ball stitch impressions and a small, three-inch handle crack. All silver foil markings, including Thomas' name in block letters on the barrel are strong. He used this bat during the season that followed back-to-back American League MVP campaigns. He was no slouch in this particular campaign either and finished eighth in the A.L. MVP voting after batting .308 with 152 hits including 40 home runs and 111 runs batted in. Always a threat at the plate, he also led the league in walks with 136. This bat represents a great game-used piece of the Hall of Famer's arsenal during the prime of his career.
