Baseball Hall of Famer Jen Griffey Jr. enjoyed his most productive season in 1997 while paroling centerfield for the Seattle Mariners. Competing in his ninth MLB campaign, the 27-year-old Griffey led the American League in home runs (56), runs batted in (147) and runs scored (125) while batting a steady .304. To nobody's surprise he was named A.L. MVP and also earned his eighth of 10 straight Rawlings Gold Glove awards. This lot features Griffey's autographed and game-worn Seattle Mariners baseball cap for that unforgettable campaign.
The two-toned New Era Authentic Diamond Collection cap (size 7 1/8) shows moderate use and includes the M's trademark silver Seattle logo on the front. Griffey signed the aqua green brim of the cap in what appears to be fine-point navy blue marker and added "Game Used" and "97" underneath his signature. On the underside of the brim can be found Griffey's uniform number "24" in black fine-point marker. A great piece of autographed, game-worn baseball memorabilia from one of the single greatest campaigns by one player ever recorded.
LOA from Griffey Jr. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
