Before he earned a World Series ring with the 1986 New York Mets, right-handed pitcher Ron Darling was putting in his time throwing strikes with the Mets Triple-A affiliate, the Tidewater Tides. And it was in 1983 that Darling not only won the Triple-A World Series with the Tides, but also was called up to the Mets late in the season where he posted a 1-3 MLB record in five starts. This lot features Darling's 1983 Tidewater Tides Triple-A World Series 10K gold ring.
The Balfour, size 10 ring boasts the Mets team logo in the center embedded on top of a blue stone with a raised border that reads "WORLD CHAMPIONS 1983 TIDEWATER." One shank reads: "GOVERNORS CUP 82-83 Tidewater Tides International League" with the Tides logo in the middle. The other shank reads: "DARLING" and "Triple A World Series" with a World Series trophy below it with the words "Champions Triple A World Series." The band is engraved with "BALFOUR" and "10K." Ring presents in good condition since it's apparent that Darling did wear it for a spell.
