The 1953 Oakland Oaks competed in the Pacific Coast League and were managed by Augie Galan. The team finished out the season with a record of 77-103 to finish near the cellar in the PCL standings. This “Oakland Oaks” branded baseball includes 25 autographs from that year’s roster including Galan (across the sweet spot), Hall of Famer George Kelly and longtime Negro League standout Ray Dandridge. The baseball is actually dated in blue ink “1953 - Aug. 6.” Each of the 25 different signatures in blue ink remain intact and show outstanding preservation over the past 64 years. Other signatures include Bob Murphy, Lem Neal, John O’Neil, Eddie Lake, Jim Marshall, George Bamberger and Billy Joe Waters, plus Farrarese, Howerton, Cutti, Davis, Peralta, Flores, Broglio, Bero, Atkins, Milne, Chapman, and others.
