On April 17, 1951, Mickey Mantle made his major league debut for the New York Yankees in a 5-0 win over the Boston Red Sox. Batting third and playing right field—with Phil Rizzuto batting second and Joe DiMaggio fourth—Mantle was 1-for-4 on the afternoon with a run scored and an RBI.  The rest, as they say, is history.

From the Paul DeGood collection comes this rare Mickey Mantle rookie autographed government postcard with printed photo. Astonishingly, the GPC is postmarked June 18, 1951, almost exactly two months to the day of Mantle’s big league debut. In flawless vintage black ink, Mantle’s inscription reads, “To Paul - With best Wishes - Mickey Mantle”. Only light creasing on the front left side (not affecting any inscriptions) is apparent and the GPC otherwise displays EX eye appeal.

Includes a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
