Incredibly preserved one-page, hand-written letter in blue ink from Washington Senators Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson to his pen pal Eleanor Fleitman from Kansas City, Missouri, on August 25, 1940. Johnson has signed the personalized stationary that reads "WALTER P. JOHNSON GERMANTOWN, MD." with a perfect 9/10 vintage blue ink signature reading: "Take care of your self, Sincerely Yours, Walter," He starts the letter: "My dear Eleanor." In the body of the letter Johnson talks about his impending plans ("You better look out I may be out there soon and don't think I would expect to go through Kansas City and not see you so what do you intend to do about that?"), about the weather ("We have had nothing but rain for a week"), and a reminder "Don't forget. I may be out there in two weeks. I think I will be at the series in Cincinnati too'). The letter itself is in great condition with just the original folds. The original mailing envelope is also included, complete with a purple three-cent stamp showing former U.S. President Thomas Jefferson. Johnson was one of the first five players elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936, along with Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner and Christy Mathewson.
