Although the ball club that once proudly donned this uniform is lost to time, what is known is that they certainly didn’t skimp on quality. This jersey is of a quality comparable to that worn by major league teams of the 1930’s. The heavy grey flannel jersey has red and blue double piping down the front and sleeve openings, as well as added red piping to the sun collar. An old English “D” in red felt is sewn to the left front chest. The 3/4 length sleeves appears to have once has two “D”’s sewn on, of which one remains. The Spalding label inside the collar appears to be the circa 1925-1942 style with a size “42” hang tag affixed. There is no number on the back. The jersey shows good game use with toning throughout, along with light staining and discoloration visible. The red and blue piping has frayed in some areas and there is a clubhouse repair of a rip on the left rear shoulder. A choice example of what the finer-dressed ball player wore during baseball’s Golden Age.
