The lot offered here consists of three letters written during the 1950’s by Hall of Famer Ty Cobb to recently retired southpaw, Lou Brissie. Two of the letters are hand written by Cobb, one in blue ink (dated August 25, 1957) and one in green fine-point marker (dated August 31, 1954), and largely consist of Cobb turning down Brissie’s invitations to show up at various events as himself to meet and greet fans of baseball. The third letter (dated June 11, 1958) is type-written and again has Cobb respectfully bowing out of another invite from Brissie, this one in Colorado Springs. In each of the three letters, Cobb makes it a point to acknowledge Brissie’s two sons: “Give your sons my regards.” All three letters are either written or typed on “TYRUS R. COBB” letterhead. The two hand-written letters are signed “Ty,” while the type-written letter is signed “Ty Cobb.” Hand-addressed envelopes accompany each of the three letters.

Includes LOA from the Brissie Family. Three full LOAs from PSA/DNA, one for each letter.
