Ed Bailey was a journeyman catcher who played for five different teams during the course of his 14-year MLB career. From 1961 to ’63, Bailey served as backstop for the San Francisco Giants and helped the team battle its way to the 1962 World Series. This lot features Bailey’s autographed 1963 San Francisco Giants game-worn road uniform, a season in which he batted .263 with 21 home runs and 68 runs batted in.

The gray flannel jersey is adorned with block lettering "SAN FRANCISCO" in black with orange trim sewn across the front with large uniform number "6" in the same black with orange trim sewn on the back. Sleeves and collar have black with orange trim. "Bailey" gray nameplate with black chain stitching is sewn into the back of collar. The proper “Spalding” [size] 46 tags are sewn on left front tail with “63” sewn just below them in black chain stitching. Bailey has signed the right chest area of the jersey in black fine-point marker. The jersey is in great condition with moderate wear.

The accompanying gray flannel pants show comparable wear as the jersey and boast black with orange trim piping running the length of both pant legs. On the front of the waistband is the Rawlings tag with adjacent washing instructions tag. The inside rear of the waistband includes a white nameplate reading “Bailey 6 38 27” to reflect player, uniform number, waist size and inseam. The seven original buttons (one on either rear pocket and five down the fly area) remain intact.

Part of the esteemed Delbert Mickel estate collection. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
