Very unique piece of artwork made for Don Drysdale at the end of his playing career. In 1969, artist Robert Ewing created this mummified stick-figure rendition of a right-handed pitcher, presumably Drysdale, in mid wind-up using material that resembles a compound mixture of metal wire and graphite. Entitled "53" for Drysdale's jersey number, the 15" tall sculpture stands one-legged on a solid black square (4" x 4" x 3") base. The artist's name the title of the piece are inscribed on a gold nameplate. It is fully intact, but quite fragile and a few sections of the narrow limbs show signs of cracking.
Includes LOA from the Drysdale family.
