Beyond his prolific pitching days for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers, the late Don Drysdale was himself an avid golfer who participated in a number of charity golf events during and after his big league career ended in 1969. This lot includes Drysdale’s 1992 Hall of Fame Golf Classic duffel bag in which resides three different pairs of event-worn spikes of Drysdale’s as well as one Ben Hogan tournament-worn golf glove belonging to the late hurler. In addition, there is a specially engraved 1992 “An American Hero” plaque dedicated to Drysdale.
The blue duffel is fully functional and includes both a “DELTA” embroidered patch on one side and a “Don Drysdale Hall of Fame Golf Classic” patch on the other. All three pairs of golf spikes are FootJoy branded with two pairs in white and a single pair in brown suede. Two of the pairs (one white, one brown) of spikes are showing tournament wear with actual grass clumps on the spikes. The third pair of white spikes appears to be a nicer, seldom-used pair. The light blue “Hogan Leader” Men’s Regular ML golf glove shows considerable wear and includes its original ball marker. The wooden “American Hero” plaque, which measures nine inches wide by 12” tall, was awarded to Drysdale in 1992 at the 5th Annual Don Drysdale Hall of Fame Golf Classic by the children of the Boys and Girls Club of Coachella Valley.
Includes LOA from the Drysdale Family.
