Offered here is a massive trophy honoring Cleveland Browns Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown as the 1960's Athlete of the Decade, a well-deserved honor for the man view as the greatest football player ever. The three-level trophy weighs around 25 lbs. and stands 32" tall, sitting on a 16" by 14" wooden base. A silver-colored nameplate on the middle section reads "ATHLETE OF THE DECADE - JIM BROWN - CLEVELAND BROWNS - PRESENTED BY THE SIDELINERS - COLUMBUS, OHIO - BILL CUMMINGS - PRESIDENT - 19 FEBRUARY 1966." A large, decorative silver-colored trophy cup with an angelic figure holding a flaming torch adorns the top, with four smaller silver eagles on the corners of the third level base. Three silver football players stand on the corners of the bottom level, with broken at the foot and missing. The trophy is 50 years old, and certainly shows its age. There are several gouges and scrapes in the wood including a few small chunks missing. The silver-colored metal pieces, which looks to be die-cast Pewter, all show light tarnishing but have maintained their shine and coating for the most part. A couple reddish paint marks can be found on the angel at the very top. Overall, it presents in VG-EX condition, perfect for any football fan's collection. How many times does a Jim Brown trophy hit the auction block? That's a rhetorical question.
