Just six weeks before claiming their third World Series crown in five years, the San Francisco Giants were hosting their division rival Los Angeles Dodgers and wound up on the very short end of a 17-0 thrashing. The 17 runs is still the most runs scored by any team at AT&T Park. The date was Sept. 13, 2014, and the Dodgers had just opened up a two-game lead over the Giants in the NL West Standings. Giants’ starter Tim Hudson ignited the fire by giving up eight hits and six earned runs in just one inning of work. It as a much-needed wake-up call for the G-Men before turning the season around and becoming World Champs yet again. This lot features the game-worn San Francisco Giants home jersey that eventual World Series hero Madison Bumgarner wore that evening at AT&T Park. Although he did not start or get into the game, Mad Bum was ready to come off the bench and pinch-hit if manager Bruce Bochy needed him.
The jersey is sporting the proper Authentic Collection Majestic manufacturer’s tagging on the left front tail with a size “50” tag adjacent to it. The front is very unique as it spells out “GIGANTES” across the front in black tackle twill lettering outlined in orange. This game was celebrating “Latino Heritage Night” at the ballpark. Bumgarner’s now very recognizable uniform number “40” adorns the back of the jersey in black tackle will outlined in orange accompanied by a mustard brown drop shadow effect. The San Francisco Giants Baseball Club patch is located on the left sleeve, while the official MLB logo patch is positioned on the rear collar.
