The Houston Astros called up Jose Altuve in 2011 out of Double-A with about 60 games left in the season. He batted .276 (61 for 221) with 10 doubles, two home runs, 26 runs scored, and 12 RBI. It would be his only MLB season to date in which he has played less than a 100 games for the Astros. Between 2012 and 2014, the 5'6" Altuve has averaged 152.3 games and has set the tone for hustle for his young Astros team with a batting average of .306 and a stellar 41.3 steals per season. The hustle Altuve has displayed culminated with a career season in 2014, becoming the first Astro to win a batting title. Altuve led the entire Major Leagues in batting average (.341) and hits (225), and tied for an NL-best 56 stolen bases. In 2015, the fans voted Altuve as the National League's starting second baseman at the All-Star game.

This Louisville Slugger was used by Altuve in 2013, a season in which he hit a lofty .283 for the Astros. It was obtained at Minute Maid Park in May by an Astros season ticket holder. The Louisville Slugger H238M model bat displays outstanding use and shows a severe handle crack. Thoroughly pounded, the bat is riddled with ball marks, stitch impressions and rack marks. Altuve’s number “27” has been hand written in the cupped barrel end. The date of manufacture “09/05/12”, initial “A” and “33.0/30.5” length and weight are stamped into the knob end. Altuve has signed the barrel in black marker. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (auto.).
